Traditional Ginger Snaps


Ingredients

Scale

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup shortening


Instructions

Mix all ingredients.  Roll into balls, then roll in sugar.  Cook on top rack in 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.
